JAUE2017-067: Research on the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Development in China

Abstract

Over the past decades, the photovoltaic (PV) industry in China has been developed rapidly. The 
Chinese government has played an important role in this stage of PV development, which has issued 
a series of policies to support the development of solar energy, and the photovoltaic industry in 
particular. From 2013 to 2016, the annual installed capacity of China ranked at the top in the world 
and the accumulated capacity also ranked at the top globally. In this paper we evaluate the changes 
that have occurred in China over recent years in PV industry, demonstrate the governmental policies 
in different periods; addressing the technological approaches adopted by Chinese companies; and 
changes in the PV industry structure. The analysis section shows how much the PV industry has 
been diffused and what will make the development process rapidly. The technique experience and 
advanced management strategies of PV development in China can be good reference for the other 
countries.
