Latent heat storage is one of the primary application manners of heat storage, and the application of latent heat
storage in building also becomes the research hotspot in the field of building energy-saving. After combining with
normal building materials, phase change material(PCM) can reduce indoor temperature fluctuate, raise comfort,
little use or even no use of energy consumed by heating or cooling facilities, raising energy utilizing efficiency.
PCM acts like a thermal resistance. When storages energy during heat transfer, PCM can prolong the energy transfer
time and decrease temperature gradation.So, the specific heat of phase change building materials is incomparable to
normal building materials.The research results in this field are summarized in this paper. They are comprehensively
discussed that classification and characteristics of PCM, combining techniques of PCM and building materials,
choice of PCM in building and encapsulation of PCM in building. And the research way and content are also
prospected
