The second phase of the Dalian Tian Garden residential district project has been approved "national ceremony residential demonstration project" in 2000. This project is surrounded by of mountains and sea, with picturesque environment and rich cultural heritage, characterized by ecological and industrial. In China, the rapid growth of the elderly population is about annual increasing 10 million, The social environment has put forward higher requirements to the environment of existing residential buildings. This paper investigates the current situation and characteristics, and made a review of the elderly physiological, psychological and behavioral characteristics and needs, found that this project have a lot of problems such as planning, public facilities, safety and comfort in the internal space. This paper attempt to use of rich outdoor public space, the transformation of the road and the entrance to improve the outdoor environment and other methods of identification. The regeneration of old fitness and comfort, energy, security of existing settlements, for our city to solve the existing residential elderly home care to provide the beneficial exploration in the presence of external space problems.
