Abstract

Magnesium and its alloys have restricted their industrial application due to the low number of slip system. In order to improve the formability, many researches to control the texture of magnesium have been studied. Although it was founded that Al2Ca second phase was formed when the Ca was added to the AZ61 alloy, the results about texture formation behavior along with the deformation was not observed. Thus, in this study, the effect of secondphase on texture formation behavior of AZ alloy was investigated using AZ61 and AZX611 alloy. Plain strain compression was conducted under high temperature plain strain compression was conducted at 0.05s-1 strain rate and 723K. Second-phase made AZ alloy to show higher flow stress by precipitation hardening and induced the PSN effect. The grains occurred by the PSN effect had split texture from basal axis and this inhibited the development of basal texture during high temperature compression.
