Journal Policies

1. Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to the Journal of Asian Urban Environment. The journal accepts original research articles, review articles, case studies, and conference papers related to the journal’s academic scope.

All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of the journal. Submissions considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before a final editorial decision is made.

Please refer to the following link for the template of submission: Moi-template.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents, figures, tables, maps, datasets, or other third-party materials. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be listed as authors and must approve the submitted version of the manuscript.

Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal and institutional requirements of the country or region where the study was conducted.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, authors should ensure that the study design and research argument are properly structured and clearly articulated. The title should be concise, and the abstract should be able to stand on its own.

2. Submission Requirements

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript has been prepared using the journal template.
  • The title, abstract, keywords, main text, figures, tables, references, and author information are complete.
  • All authors have approved the submitted version and agreed to be listed as authors.
  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted or third-party materials.
  • Ethical approval information has been provided where applicable.
  • Any potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • Funding information, if applicable, has been clearly stated.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Figures and tables are clearly numbered, titled, and cited in the main text.
  • The manuscript has been checked for language, grammar, formatting, and citation accuracy.

3. Peer Review Policy

All submissions to the Journal of Asian Urban Environment are first assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of the journal and whether they satisfy basic academic and editorial standards.

Submissions that are outside the journal’s scope, do not meet minimum quality standards, or fail to comply with basic ethical or submission requirements may be rejected before external peer review.

Submissions considered suitable for the journal will be sent for peer review. The journal uses a single-anonymous peer review process, in which reviewers remain anonymous to authors during the review process.

Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, academic background, and relevance to the subject matter of the manuscript. Each manuscript is normally reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are expected to provide fair, objective, confidential, and constructive comments to support the editor’s decision-making.

Reviewers are expected to maintain fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, and professionalism throughout the review process. They should evaluate manuscripts within their field of expertise and should not be influenced by the authors’ identity, background, affiliation, nationality, gender, or other irrelevant factors.

Reviewers must keep all information obtained during the review process confidential and must not disclose, discuss, copy, distribute, or use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts except for the purpose of peer review. Reviewers must also declare any potential conflict of interest before accepting a review invitation.

Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on the following aspects:

  • Originality: whether the research is novel and contributes to the field.
  • Methodology: whether the research methods are appropriate and the study design is sound.
  • Data: whether the data or evidence are sufficient and the analysis is rigorous.
  • Conclusions: whether the conclusions are consistent with the results and are reasonable.
  • References: whether the references are sufficient, current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Writing: whether the manuscript is clearly written and grammatically correct.

After completing the review, reviewers provide comments and a recommendation through the review system. The possible recommendations include:

  • Accept Submission
  • Revisions Required
  • Resubmit for Review
  • Resubmit Elsewhere
  • Decline Submission
  • See Comments

Reviewers’ recommendations are used to support editorial decision-making. The final decision is made by the editor based on the reviewers’ comments, the quality of the manuscript, the authors’ revisions, and the journal’s editorial standards.

If revision is required, authors should revise the manuscript carefully and provide a response explaining how the reviewers’ and editor’s comments have been addressed.

4. Publication Ethics

The Journal of Asian Urban Environment is committed to maintaining academic integrity and responsible scholarly publishing.

Authors must submit original work. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, and undisclosed conflicts of interest are not acceptable.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly cited and that all data, figures, tables, and other materials are presented accurately.

All listed authors must have made an appropriate contribution to the work and must approve the submitted version of the manuscript. Any change in authorship after submission should be approved by all authors and by the editor.

Research involving human participants, animals, personal data, surveys, interviews, or other ethically sensitive materials should comply with applicable legal and institutional requirements. Where required, authors must obtain approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest that could influence, or be perceived to influence, the submission, review, decision-making, or publication process.

Editors are responsible for making editorial decisions based on academic merit, relevance to the journal, methodological quality, and ethical compliance.

Reviewers are responsible for providing fair, objective, constructive, and timely reviews. Reviewers must keep all manuscript information confidential and must declare any conflict of interest before accepting a review invitation.
