As an important part of the city, factories are one of the main places where people work. However, few studies have focused on the outdoor thermal environemnt of factory areas. This study used the thermal comfort questionnaire to investigate the outdoor thermal comfort in two factory areas in different time periods during winter in Jiaxing, China. Thermal sensation, thermal comfort, and Current microclimate preferences of workers in different built outdoor environments were analyzed through questionnaires. The results indicated that human thermal comfort was strongly related to their thermal sensation, and the proportion of comfortable was highest at midday. In addition, workers desired higher air temperature, stronger solar radiation, and lower wind speed in winter, but were not sensitive to relative humidity. These findings could serve as theoretical baselines and references for urban planners to design factory outdoor spaces.
