China's urban construction has shifted from incremental development to stock development, and the construction volume has slowed down year by year. At this stage, more emphasis is placed on sustainable development, and a large number of projects are focused on the redevelopment and utilization of stock construction such as old city renewal and old building renovation. Old renovation projects can not only save costs and reduce construction waste, but also inherit and continue the historical and cultural heritage of the city, which puts forward higher requirements for future designers. This paper discusses the teaching exploration of architecture education in order to adapt to the development of our country, taking Qingdao University of Technology as an example. Through teaching, students are guided to explore unique cultural connotations and historical relics, deal with the contradiction between the new and the old, and create a space with humanistic connotations.
