JiSMART2022—001: Research on the Current Situation of the Fishing Village in Qingdao, China

Abstract

Located in one of the most urbanized areas in China, fishing villages in Qingdao West Coast New area are 
experiencing unprecedented development. In order to reveal the process and mechanism of fishing villages’ revitalization driven by industrial transformation, this paper makes the definitions of four typical fishing village transformation types, i.e., modern fishery-dominated village type (MFT), fishing products process dominated type (FPT), and fishing village tourism dominated type (FTT), and Diversified development village type (DDT). And typical transformed fishing villagesin Langya town were selected as examples to explain the different characteristics of industrial transformation. Based on the analysis of the current fishing villages’ developing situation, the classification of the different transformations, the research results can be used as a reference for future industrial transformation research and supply a basis information system for the policy maker to promote new industrial transformation in the coastal rural areas.
