Abstract

Construction industrialization is developing rapidly worldwide, but it still faces problems such as low production efficiency and high resource consumption. China issued guidance in 2020 to accelerate the new industrialization of buildings. The study reports that the effective application of design for manufacture and assembly(DfMA)in theconstruction industry will have a significant impact on this. This paper aims to collect and review the DfMAmethodology and its application in the construction industry. The Google Scholar database is used to get articles.Systematic review of selected articles by searching for keywords such as DfMA. The thematic analysis resultsrevealed the research themes and trends in recent years. The research on DfMA starts from the similarities anddifferences between the manufacturing industry and the construction industry and tries to learn from experience tobuild a system suitable for the construction industry. More and more literature focus on the integration andapplication of BIM technology, combining with visualization platformssuch as rhinoceros 3D, and solving problems combined with off-site construction (OSC). Finally, recommendations are provided to researchers and practitionersto summarize the review. The results of this paper will provide reference value for future theoretical and empiricalresearch.
