JiSMART2022—022: Study on Influencing Factors of Pocket Park Site Selection Based on Demand Side

Abstract

Pocket parks are located at the edges and corners of urban centers, transforming idle land into vibrant oases that promote outdoor activities and enhance urban vitality. However, the locating of pocket parks is not easy, as there are many factors that can affect how well it is used after installation. Based on the survey data of pocket park usage in China from July to October 2022 (2358 valid questionnaires), this study studied the different requirements of cities with different economic levels, cities with different climate zones, cities with different terographs and different populations for parks, and explored the priority order of installation locations of pocket parks from the demand side. Spearman correlation analysis and multiple logistics regression method were used to establish a model of the main factors affecting the intensity of residents' demand for parks. The results showed that: (1) the older and more educated residents are, the higher the demand intensity for parks is; (2) Residents in second-tier cities have the least frequency of going to parks and the least duration of staying. (3) The distance between the residence and the park and the cleanliness of the park are important objective factors affecting residents' activities in the park.
