jismart2024065: A Review on Dynamic Building Walls for Energy Conservation
Keywords:
dynamic building walls, switchable insulation system, Energy conservationAbstract
Confronted with the pressing issues of resource scarcity and escalating energy use in buildings, dynamic building walls have garnered significant attention as an innovative energy conservation technology. These walls distinguish themselves from conventional insulation methods by their capacity to selectively modulate heat transfer. This is achieved by intelligent regulation of their thermal properties, which enhances indoor thermal comfort and significantly mitigates energy consumption. This study commences by delineating the constraints inherent to traditional building walls regarding thermal insulation and underscores the merits of dynamic walls in enhancing energy efficiency. Subsequently, it explores the operational mechanisms of dynamic building walls, their structures, and the strategies employed for control. The impact of different dynamic walls on energy consumption was also evaluated. The paper considers the future developmental prospects of various dynamic building wall systems by conducting an exhaustive review of extant research findings. This offers a valuable reference for charting prospective research avenues.
