The urban evolvement is a process of spatio-temporal evolution. In order to explore the mechanism of urban evolvement, observe the characteristics of urban form expansion, and grasp the characteristics of urban internal structure evolution. The spatial-temporal analysis of urban functional structure is important to urban evolution. This paper describes the correlation analysis between the characteristics of urban morphological evolution and the characteristics of urban internal structure evolution in the urban evolution mechanism of Qingdao. the Landsat remote sensing image data of 1988, 1998, 2008 and 2018 is used to analyze the characteristics of the urban morphological expansion in the past 30 years. In addition, 14 Kinds of the POI data of 2016 and 2019 is used to analyze the characteristics of the urban internal structural evolution in the past 4 years. by comparing the evolutionary characteristics of POI, it is evaluated that the degree of their closeness to urban morphological evolution. The results were analyzed through the Method of fractal theory and nuclear density analysis which pre‐ process the temporal and spatial evolution data of remote sensing image data and POI data in Qingdao. The analysis suggests that Among the urban functional attributes, the evolvement characteristics of residence, transportation and rest are closely related to the Qingdao’s evolvement of urban form. The six most important POI data are: (1) shopping;(2) residence;(3) traffic facilities; (4) hotel;(5) financial service and (6) sports facilities. Therefore, the research suggests that the development of Qingdao’s urban evolvement trends the ring bay, but the urban multi- center spatial structure system is still in the development stage.
