jismart2019013: Testing of Trolley bus in Pattaya City, Chonburi, Thailand

Abstract

In the mid of the 20th century, Trolley Bus plays a key role in transport innovation, being an environmentally friendly mode of road transport system. To cope with the current rapid urban development, especially in the area of traffic jams improvement and other sundry issues like energy crisis, this mode of transportation saves fuel consumption and travel expenses due to its capacity with transit systems. This study aims to present the technical feasibility study of implementing trolley bus in Pattaya, Chonburi province which is situated at the center of world-famous tourism. Trolley buses were deployed and made to test run the implementation for experimental purposes using the condition of loading and unloading. The analysis steps adoptedled to the evaluation of the system feasibility for both economics and societialimpacts. Different alignments were proposed for testing in order to ascertain traveling time spent and service conditions of opening and closing of doors to simulate the stops. In order to see the charging status (% SOC, state of charge) and determine the level of battery utilization, the remaining battery was duly recorded. The results of this study could help to launch appropriate policy to promote the development of trolley buses in Thailand.
