Abstract

With the development of architecture construction industry, more and more digital technologies are involved in the design studio curriculum. The various technologies, including computer-aided drawing, digital modeling and analysis, has become the key nodes for education in design studio, and also start to form the overall system of the architecture curriculum. Digital technologies range from simple drawing, traditional 3D modeling, and digital animations to the creation of new construction and geometric spaces by parametric computation. In this case, encouraging and promotion of digital technologies will be the perspective trend. This paper summaries the historical roots and development process of digital technologies, reveals the interactions between the two factors and the digital architectural design education. Meanwhile, it analyzes the current situation of digital architectural education in colleges and universities and proposes a new teaching model for it with further consideration of the issues it might exist. Comparing digital architectural education methods to the traditional ones, it clarifies the advantages, and concludes the establishing possibility in the education system.
