Abstract

In response to socio-economic transformation and fierce global competition, many cities have made the development and redevelopment of coastal space an important initiative in their development. The quality improvement of Qingdao coastal space is a way to respond to the transformation of inventory planning. In this context, combined with relevant theories and based on field research, this paper studies the reasons for the lack of vitality of coastal public space from the overall level, and puts forward some improvement strategies. Based on the distribution characteristics of coastal public space vitality, the impact of urban functions on urban spatial vitality is guided out. Taking the conceptual design of coastal public space planning in the eastern line of Qingdao as an example, four measures are proposed, namely the improvement of the transportation system, the establishment of a continuous public open space system, the increase of urban public space in the coastal zone, and the functional compounding of coastal architectural space, which have certain significance for guiding the shaping of coastal public space vitality in coastal cities.
