As a traditional residential building in Guangzhou, bamboo house has many advantages, such as land saving, good ventilation performance and variable interior space. However, there are some problems in the use of such houses today. The most prominent problem is the poor lighting quality of buildings. Through field investigation and field measurement, this paper analyzes the lighting status of bamboo house by using Ecotect software to simulate the architectural light environment. Combined with the current situation and use of bamboo house, some measures to optimize the light environment are put forward. For example, some of the ordinary bricks in the building can be replaced by glass bricks, because glass bricks have good light transmittance. Increasing the window area in the appropriate place can improve the lighting inside the building. Finally, Ecotect software is used to simulate the effectiveness of these measures to provide some reference and thinking for the renewal and utilization of bamboo house in the future.
