jismart2020049: Research on Influencing Factors of Overcapacity in Construction Industry

Abstract

The issue of overcapacity has been a severe obstacle for the development of construction industry in China’s provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) and soaring in regional economy. This study established an evaluation index system for overcapacity in construction industry from the perspective of supply-side and demand- side, and screened the relative indexes through correlation analysis. On this basis, DEA method was introduced and extraction model for key influence factors of overcapacity was constructed. Datum of related indexes from 2007 to 2017 in construction industry of Shandong were adopted to explore the significant influence factors as well as their change rule. The calculation results indicated that: (1) overcapacity existed in construction industry of Shandong during the period of 2010-2014; (2) there is redundancy in multiple input and output indexes, indicating that the overcapacity in construction industry of Shandong is related to the influence factors such as operation capability, correlative industry, government intervention and enterprise supply; (3) the key influence factors are enterprise supply and correlative industry, that is to say, supply-demand balance and industrial structure are the main factors affecting the overcapacity of construction industry in Shandong.
