Abstract

With the development of society and the progress of science. The protection of the environment and energy saving has now become one of the most important issues of people's concern. According to the latest statistics, the global buildings sector accounts for 37% of global carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the building sector accounts for 40% of the world's energy consumption. As a common and effective low-tech building design strategy, the most used forms of greenery systems in buildings include green roofs, green facades, open gardens, balconies and indoor greenery. Energy savings are only one of the many benefits of greenery systems. However, the existing literature has mainly published reviews on the thermal and energy-related aspects of greenery systems in buildings, but there is no systematic review of other aspects of greenery systems. The main objective of this paper is to provide a review of the literature on the impact of all the different forms of building greenery on several important aspects of the built environment.
