Abstract

With the rapid development of urbanization, courtyards have become the mainstream trend for new campus buildings. Different enclosure forms affect the outdoor wind environment of courtyards. This study aims to investigate the influence of enclosure types on the wind environment of campus courtyards. Taking a typical courtyard space of a campus in Hangzhou as an example, the outdoor wind environments at the pedestrian heights of different courtyard enclosure forms were obtained by computer fluid dynamics simulations, with the average wind speed, calm wind zone, and comfort wind zone as evaluation indexes. The wind environments of different courtyard types in summer were quantitatively analyzed, and optimization strategies were proposed. The study could provide practical guidance for the optimized design of outdoor wind environments for campus courtyards.
