Abstract

With the development of China's urbanization process, the amount of construction waste generated by urban renewal has reached hundreds of millions. The proportion of waste generated from renovation activities within the construction industry is experiencing a significant increase, establishing it as a significant component of the overall construction waste stream. Additionally, there is a consistent annual increase in the generation of construction waste resulting from the secondary refurbishment of residential structures. According to statistics provided by relevant agencies, the quantity of construction waste generated in 2020 reached an estimated 430 million tons, which is a five-fold increase compared to the amount recorded in 2015. By conducting an analysis of the current state of development and research patterns in China regarding the recycling of construction waste and renovation waste, this study reveals that the research on the recycling of renovation waste is still in its early stages of theoretical exploration. On this basis, the composition and production of renovation waste in residential renovation were collected through the investigation of typical residential renovations. This approach offers an efficient method for mitigating the accumulation of waste from residential renovations.
