In the context of global warming, there has been significant interest in researching urban outdoor thermal environments. The rapid development of cities has led to the degradation of the urban thermal environment and a range of associated issues, including the reduction in outdoor thermal comfort, increased energy consumption, and significant threats to human health. Due to the complexity of the outdoor thermal environment, it is difficult to rely solely on experience for outdoor thermal environment design. Therefore, applying a scientific and systematic quantitative optimization process is paramount. To demonstrate this approach, a study was conducted using the example of Shenzhen Bay Park. Field research was carried out to understand the thermal demands of the population in this specific area. A quantitative optimization process was proposed, which encompassed spatial modeling, temperature monitoring methods, and overall optimization strategies. The aim of this procedure was to provide scientific guidance for the design of coastal urban areas and the development of urban outdoor thermal environments.
