Abstract

The open experimentation in architecture programs at universities has been a focal point in practical teaching. However, due to the large number of students in China and the complexity of safety and organization, there are currently no design laboratories in domestic universities capable of providing full-time open experiments. Design practices often remain confined to the drawing stage without progressing to actual construction. Therefore, this study, focusing on the operation of the Comprehensive Construction Laboratory at Qingdao University of Technology, explores the organization and management of open experimental teaching in design laboratories. It proposes a feasible open experimental teaching model for design laboratories in China.
