Abstract

China is currently confronted with the formidable challenge of rapid population aging, which has led to an increasing demand for elderly care services. Despite initiatives aimed at establishing inclusive residential communities based on the "15-minute community" concept, these endeavors often fail to adequately address the specific needs of older individuals, thereby impeding their daily activities and diminishing their overall quality of life. Consequently, it becomes imperative to prioritize an "aging-friendly" approach that duly recognizes and accommodates the distinctive requirements of older residents during the planning and design of communities. Within this context, the present study seeks to investigate an optimized pattern for a 15-minute community through the utilization of data-driven methodologies and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. By implementing a comprehensive information system and a resident health database, a practical framework for a smart aging neighborhood is established, fostering the promotion of Comprehensive Health, urban intelligence, and an environment that caters to the multifaceted needs of the elderly population in China. Ultimately, this framework holds the potential to provide elderly residents within the community with enhanced safety, improved health outcomes, and greater convenience in accessing essential living services.
