The rapid development of mobile internet technology and the widespread popularity of smartphones have significantly influenced people's daily lives, complicating the mechanisms that affect travel behavior. Existing studies on travel behavior in relation to mobile internet primarily focus on developed countries, with limited research on megacities in developing nations that are experiencing the swift advancement of mobile internet technology. This study utilizes questionnaire data from rail transit travelers in Chongqing, China, to explore the intrinsic relationship between mobile internet and residents' rail transit travel behavior, as well as the pathways of influence. The aim is to enhance the current understanding of urban rail transit travel behavior. The study finds that the informatization of transportation infrastructure and informatization of transportation management significantly affects residents' rail transit travel behavior. Additionally, informatization of transportation service has an indirect effect on residents' travel behavior. Furthermore, information literacy and information resources play a mediating role between transport informatization and residents' rail transit travel behavior. These findings not only enhance our understanding of how the mobile Internet is transforming rail transit travel behavior but also provide a theoretical foundation for optimizing and renewing urban spaces in the future.
