Keywords:
Low-carbon University, Energy system, CiteSpace, Bibliometric analysisAbstract
As a major player in energy consumption, universities are requested to integrate advanced technologies to optimize the application of energy systems to address the challenge of global climate change and lead innovative practices for sustainable solutions. This study analyzed the intersection of university energy systems and advanced technologies using Web of Science data (2004–2024) and CiteSpace software. Results showed exponential growth in publications since 2010, with major contributions from the U.S., China, Italy, Spain, and Germany, reflecting strong global collaborations. Chinese institutions led in publication volume, while U.S. institutions emphasized international partnerships. Six key research themes emerged, including renewable energy, solar energy, energy efficiency, machine learning, system and performance. Burst analysis revealed a shift from traditional energy analysis to interdisciplinary methods integrating AI and machine learning, highlighting innovation and evolving research priorities in energy systems.
