Grasshopper is a plugin that generates models through program algorithms running in the Rhino platform. It directly changes the model shape by adjusting parameters and is an important tool for parametric design. This paper outlines the process of using the Ladybug plugin to perform a double-layer mesh parametric shading design on the Grasshopper platform. The key steps of the parametric design process of this double-layer mesh shading are introduced, including data input, scheme optimization and result evaluation, and the important role of Ladybug in improving design efficiency and building performance is emphasized. This shows that through parametric methods, architects can quickly design shading forms with richer shapes and iterate multiple shading schemes, which not only improves the energy-saving effect of the building, but also enhances the artistic effect of the facade, achieving the unity of function and form.
