Abstract

The continuous advancement of the rural revitalization strategy has introduced new demands for cultivating rural planning talents, making it urgent for undergraduate education in urban and rural planning to increase its focus on rural planning and development. This study analyzes the concept of participatory teaching and contrasts it with the issues present in traditional rural planning education. It establishes a fundamental framework for participatory rural planning education from three aspects: teaching tasks, teaching organization, and teaching objectives. For students of different academic levels, a "2+2+1" rural planning teaching system is proposed for undergraduates. This system emphasizes participatory rural planning education through understanding rural areas, rural planning, and rural integration. Furthermore, the study explores participatory teaching in rural planning from two perspectives: teaching engagement and practical participation.
