Abstract

In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the energy consumption of buildings. In developed countries, buildings consume 40% of total energy consumption. However, there is still a large number of traditional houses with the characteristics of high efficiency, energy saving and ecology in China. Their experience can provide direction for the sustainable development of residential buildings in the future. This paper takes the traditional dwellings in the old city of Kashgar as the research object, and analyzes the building materials, architectural spaces, and architectural layout of Kashgar dwellings. It is found that Kashgar dwellings not only show their vitality in terms of regional adaptability, but also have a set of scientific and local technical experience in ecological building techniques. The residents of Kashgar took appropriate measures according to the specific local conditions, and created a unique style of terraced traditional dwellings with honest, simple and closed form characteristics. It reflects the traditional construction wisdom of local traditional houses to deal with extreme climates.
