Abstract

To address global environmental challenges, it is crucial to understand how tourists make environmentally relevant behavioral decisions. Responsible environmental behavior of tourists refers to behaviors that positively or negatively affect tourist destinations, and the shift from responsible environmental behavior to alternative behaviors by sub-tourists can bring about relevant changes. In this paper, we summarize current theoretical research approaches in environmental psychology and propose an integrated model of individuals' environmentally relevant behavioral determinants. Intention to act, perceived behavioral control, and habits are identified as direct predictors of behavior. Intentions are predicted by attitudes, personal and social norms, and perceived behavioral control. Personal norms are predicted by social norms, perceived behavioral control, awareness of consequences, attribution of responsibility, ecological worldview, and self-transcendent values. Self-empowering values have a negative impact on personal norms. Based on the model, the authors have concluded that interventions to change tourist behavior include.1. strengthening advertising to make tourists understand the importance and value of scenic spots. 2. strengthening social support. 3. Improving human self-efficacy, etc.4. improving the infrastructure of scenic spots
