Abstract

In today's fast-changing world of technology, there is perhaps an even greater need to think and collaborate across boundaries - to break out of old industry conventions and routines, and to innovate and break through by fusing ideas and techniques from other disciplines.b Neuroarchitecture is the organic fusion of seemingly separate disciplines (neurology and architecture), i.e. breaking through the dividing line between the two disciplines and entering a new field. This study begins with an overview of its development, on the basis of which it moves from conceptualising and elucidating mechanistic principles to providing a research approach based on neuroscientific methods to explain the impact of the built environment on human experience. As such, it helps to convey a more scientific perspective on environmental experience and suggests directions for necessary future research.
