Ankang is located in Northwest China. It is wet and cold in winter, and the heating energy consumption is huge. However, the region is rich in solar energy resources. The research on passive solar energy design method is of great practical significance for optimizing the local residential building environment and saving energy consumption. Through the analysis of Ankang climate resources and the field investigation of residential buildings, this paper systematically studies the solar energy design method suitable for Ankang residential buildings. The main research contents include the following two aspects:Firstly, based on the analysis of Ankang climate environment, solar energy resources, residents' thermal comfort demand and economic development level, it is concluded that Ankang passive solar heating in winter, heat storage combined with ventilation and window shading in summer are the most important design strategies. The region is rich in solar energy resources and needs and is suitable for the use of passive solar energy technology, which has obvious energy-saving potential. However, due to the particularity of its dry, hot and cold climate conditions, the local houses have the problems of high heating energy consumption in winter and overheating in summer. At the same time, in the cold environment in winter, residents expect a warmer indoor thermal environment than thermal neutrality. Therefore, the utilization of solar energy must take into account both heating in winter and cooling in summer. Secondly, combined with the design theory of passive solar energy buildings and the survey results of local houses, this paper analyzes the current situation of the utilization of solar energy in Ankang folk houses, and finds that the utilization of solar energy in folk houses has limitations. In terms of heating in winter, the orientation of buildings is poor, the shape coefficient is large, there is less direct heat gain in winter, and there is a lack of effective thermal insulation measures. The utilization efficiency of solar energy in residential buildings is low and the thermal environment is poor. At the same time, the use of passive solar energy in this area needs to solve the heat collection and thermal insulation of buildings in winter, so as to realize the integration of solar energy utilization throughout the year. The passive heating technology suitable for Ankang residential buildings is heat collection and storage wall and heat storage roof pool. Through the design method of passive heating in winter, this paper attempts to meet the energy-saving needs of Ankang residential buildings with changing, scientific and practical design methods.
