Abstract

In this paper, a highly insulated wooden house with a south oriented Trombe wall was conceived. And to decide the best ventilation method, 3 kinds of vent layout of the Trombe wall were experimented. The comparison measurement between the highly insulated Trombe wall (HITW) house and normal wooden house with southern window was conducted and results were analyzed and discussed. The results show that the indoor temperature of test house is higher than that of control house from 16:00 to 10:00 (the next day), and from 10:00 to 16:00, the difference becomes minus. As to surface temperature, the highest temperature surface is obviously oriented south. And the other 3 surface temperatures are almost at the same fluctuation mode in both houses. At nighttime from 20:00 to 8:00 (next day), the vent temperature difference between high vent and low vent remains stable. And the average differences are 2.7°C on Dec. 5th, 3.9°C on Dec. 9th, and the maximum 5.2°C on Dec. 23rd. Vent layout of 1 vent low at east & 1 vent high at west is the best vent distribution in this study which can maximize heat exchange in the air layer of the Trombe wall.
