During the epidemic period, the status of residential outdoor space is more prominent. The elderly are the main users of outdoor space in residential areas. The renovation of old residential districts has achieved good results, but further exploration is needed to address the needs of the elderly. In order to grasp the current situation of the outdoor thermal environment of existing residential areas in Tianjin and the thermal comfort of the outdoor environment of elderly residents, the investigation was carried out in 3 typical residential districts built before the2000s. Through field measurement and questionnaire investigation, the thermal environment status of different outdoor space in residential area and the thermal comfort of the elderly were analyzed. The results showed that, in summer, greening has a significant cooling effect on the environment, and the comprehensive greening effect is better; pavilions with closed roofs can better improve the thermal comfort of the elderly than semi-enclosed pavilions; extensive use of rubber paving will reduce the outdoor environment thermal comfort. The average metabolic rate of the elderly in summer is 1.3met, and the average thermal resistance of clothes is 0.46clo; the neutral temperature is 29.1℃.
