Abstract

The new teaching building at Tianjin University disrupts traditional campus planning by integrating teaching, living, and sports areas into a cohesive unit. The design emphasizes indoor-outdoor spatial fusion, creating a shared atrium that connects two semi-enclosed courtyards. The building's layout promotes natural ventilation and daylighting, with laboratories on the lower floors and teaching spaces above. The use of traditional "over-fired bricks" and modern concrete elements reflects a balance between heritage and innovation. The design aims to enhance students' comprehensive qualities by providing a rich, interactive environment that fosters learning, living, and social interaction.
