JWACA2023-030: Overall Value Recognition of Urban Historic Conservation Areas from the Perspective of HUL

Abstract

Based on the concept of "dynamic stratification" and "holistic value" from the perspective of HUL, the heritage value of Zhongshan Road - Guantao Road urban historic conservation areas in Qingdao is analyzed within the framework of overall sustainable development, and the diachronic stratification process and synchronic landscape characteristics are identified: Preliminary cause (1891-1913), gradual development(1914-1922), Twists and turns to thrive (1923-1949), decline and depression (1949-present). The paper further identifies the spatial pattern of the mountain facing the sea, the street layout of intersecting grids, the architectural heritage of the courtyard texture, other elements of dynamic evolution, and the overall value of the continuous accumulation of intangible heritage, providing a reference for the overall protection of urban historic conservation areas.
