The Journal of World Chinese Architects, a publication that brings together the achievements and wisdom of Chinese architects worldwide, is about to be launched. Within this journal, a special column titled "Research on the Inheritance and Contemporary Expression of Chinese Cultural Genes" has been established. This theme corresponds to the title of a major project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China (Project Approval Number: 21ZD01), initiated by Tianjin University in collaboration with several other universities. The establishment of this special column in cooperation with the Journal of World Chinese Architects aims to document the collective memory of Chinese architects. Architects represent one of the principal groups responsible for the inheritance and contemporary expression of cultural genes, possessing remarkable abilities to interpret and creatively transform tradition. Since the twentieth century, architects have continuously explored this topic, and in the present era, new understandings and expressions are constantly emerging. This column provides a platform for architects to showcase how they comprehend the essence of tradition and express it within contemporary contexts through their design practices.
