Abstract

Asbestos has been widely used around the world because of stability and economic benefits from its physical and chemical characteristics. However, it was designated as group 1 carcinogen by International Agency for Research on Cancer, which belongs to World Health Organization, as inhaling powdered asbestos through respiration can cause lung cancer, asbestosis, malignant mesothelioma. In Korea, from February 2009, production, import, transfer, supply, or use of asbestos has been completely banned, and maintenance of buildings containing asbestos has become an important issue. For that reason, As-bestos Safety Management Act was enforced in April 2012. However, so far, it is rare to find research specifically concern-ing the cost of deconstruction and removal of asbestos. In this study was conducted to prepare the standard about the occurring costs per unit area of life cycle cost in dismantling and demolition the asbestos.
