For the purpose of collecting basic information of electricity consumption pattern in Indonesian households, electricity usage survey was conducted in 2010 (questionnaire survey for 5 regions) and in 2011 (detailed measurement in Jakarta) Major findings are as follows:
1. Regardless of region and income level (tariff category), electricity consumption of three major appliances (TV, refrigerator, and AC) occupies about 50% of the total electricity consumption.
2. The characteristics of penetration ratios of three major appliances by tariff category and by appliance size/specification were clarified.
3. It is estimated that the consumption of these three appliances and lighting occupies 18.2% of the total electricity consumption in Jawa-Bali region.
Therefore reducing the consumption of these four appliances is considered to be quite effective for the reduction of national electricity consumption.
