The wood sector is an important commodity for Indonesia's forest products since it provides considerable benefits for its economic needs, notably in export activities. Among the major importers of Indonesian wood products, Japan has been a primary market for Indonesia since 1970. Then Albizia falcataria is a fast-growing species developed through industrial and community forest plantations in Indonesia and potentially grown as shade trees for industrial crops, i.e., coffee and cocoa. Albizia falcataria is a popular product among Japanese people and has been marketed in various Japanese shops and online marketplaces. This study aims to obtain an overview of trends in the Indonesian timber sector, namely Albizia falcataria wood, in both the domestic and foreign markets, particularly the Japanese market. The outline begins by examining the history of the timber trade and the current flow of timber from Indonesia's wood industry to the Japanese market. Then, this study uses qualitative methods with structured literature studies and observes the building material supply industries in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka, Japan. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Albizia falcataria has a potential set of features in the context of current timber trade trends between Indonesia and Japan, to promote high-value-added markets for environmentally friendly products.Â
