Abstract

The authors conducted measurement in the under-floor spaces of 13 houses around Kitakyushu Science and Research Park. In the case of heat-insulating floors, the variation in absolute humidity in an under-floor space did not vary considerably among houses. It can be considered that under-floor air temperature varies according to the type and thickness of heat-insulating materials and the shape of the foundation. In the case of heat-insulating foundations, it is desirable to seal an under-floor space rather than connecting indoor and underfloor spaces with ventilation holes on floors, for preventing condensation under floors in the summer. When a humidity control agent was applied, the frequency of an under-floor space being highly humid decreased. However, the surface temperature of the foundation concrete was lower than dew-point temperature sometimes, and this indicates that even if a humidity control agent is used, condensation may occur under floors.
