It was pointed out that the airtightness of buildings would cause dew condensation due to high humidity during the summer and excessive dryness during the winter. In this study, the authors set a model of a house, and analyzed how the indoor environment changes during the rainy season when the walls are equipped with the function to control humidity, by using the simulation software THERB. This paper analyzes only a living room, which is the center of living, and clarifies the characteristics of humidity control materials, while changing the opening and closing patterns of windows and weather conditions. Consequently, When windows were opened, the relative humidity in the room increased more frequently, even with the humidity control material. Also, when ambient humidity remained high, indoor relative humidity increased more frequently, even with the humidity control material.
As a result, it was found that the humidity control material’s effect of alleviating humidification varies according to weather conditions and whether windows are opened or closed. It was also clarified that the performance of humidity control materials is maximized by facilitating moisture emission by opening windows when ambient humidity is low.
