Abstract

We conducted a field survey of the ZEB (net Zero Energy Building) building in Germany. We compared the ZEB architecture between Japan and Germany and examined the regional characteristics. In terms of renewable energy, both Japan and Germany deal mainly with solar photovoltaic power generation in that it is similar. Also, in Germany, like energy conservation building built along a large river to actively use river water, they are aggressive in adopting technologies that make use of the unique environmental characteristics of the area.
The air conditioning system in Japan is a cooling and heating system, but in Germany, it is primarily a heating system. Therefore, the heat insulation performance of the building, the heat source system, the air conditioning system are different. There was also a difference in the use of renewable energy. We report the results of several differences in building specifications and energy saving technology adopted by ZEB in Japan and Germany.
