JAUE2020-090: Analysis of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Utilization Business Trends in Korea

Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market is expected to grow at an annual average of about 15%. Among them, the commercial drone market is expected to grow at an annual average of 35% to reach $880 million by 2023. Of these, the size of the commercial UAV market is expected to continue to grow from the existing 1% level and exceed 7% in 2023. In UAV market, the market share by country was 71% in the US, 13% in Europe, 7% in the Middle East, 8% in the Asia-Pacific, and 49% in the US, 17% in Europe, 22% in Asia-Pacific, and 9% in the Middle East in 2021. Therefore, this study analyzes the current status of drone use in Korea and attempts to understand the trend of the application business. An analysis was conducted on the improvement of the irregular location of the island, the management of state-owned land, and the acquisition of time series data. If research and projects are conducted in various fields such as spatial information DB construction, spatial information research, and 3D work in the future, it is expected that UAV-using industry market will grow sufficiently in Korea.
