Abstract

The water quality of the Songhuajiang River is vital for the development of Harbin City. In this study, an advanced treatment technology was investigated to allow Songhuajiang River water to meet drinking water standards. The results indicated that when the dosage of the polymeric aluminum ferric-calcium (PAFC) coagulant was 60 mg/L, the enhanced coagulation process achieved good removal of chroma and turbidity. A combination of ozonation and activated carbon was able to perfectly remove organic matters and ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N). Moreover, the effluent water quality was able to reach national drinking water standards. Songhuajiang River water was suitable for drinking water after the advanced treatment.
