Abstract

Nowadays, people's requirements for the quality of human settlements are constantly improving. They no
longer only pursue a single visual aesthetic, but begin to attach importance to the use of human perception and the
environment to carry out multidimensional cross environmental aesthetic activities. Based on the sense of smell,
this thesis explores the relationship between smellscape and people. According to the characteristics of odor
perception, conduct onsite surveys and questionnaire surveys on the status quo of smellscapes in Kitakyushu
Commercial Street and subway stations to obtain the public's awareness, demand and satisfaction with the status
quo of smellscapes, and use odor concentration measuring instruments to obtain the odor concentration in public
spaces Data, analyze the odor types and concentration differences in public spaces in different cities. Combined
with environmental psychology and smellscape theory, by analyzing the basic characteristics and concentration of
odor, accumulate data support for the application of odor in space, analyze the influencing factors of odor on
human psychology, provide basic basis for the application of odor in public environment, and promote smellscape
research.
