The construction of public libraries has far-reaching significance for the development of the city. Libraries are
not only a container for collecting, borrowing and reading books, but also a place for people to communicate with
each other. It is an important part of social and cultural composition, with considerable influence. As a public

Kitakyushu City has completed the construction of several new public libraries, and to adapt to the new era
background and the needs of readers, the old library space is also constantly adjust to improve. Currently, there are
17 public libraries in Kitakyushu. Use the behavior-space theory to analysis the space of those public libraries.
Through investigate those libraries behavior-space theory, this paper summed up their respective spatial
characteristics and spatial use of the status quo. With a view to provide a valuable reference perspective to the
future of public library building design
