Abstract

The 3.11 earthquake/tsunami disaster called for a drastic review of Japan's energy policy, to which the aggressive adoption of renewable energy has become essential above all. Woody biomass is abundantly
available in local cities and therefore viewed as a promising new energy source. In this study, we have planned to build a smart energy network using renewable energy resources, including woody biomass, wind energy, solar energy, and geothermal energy, and analyzed the possibility and significance of its introduction to the Lake Shirakaba area in Nagano Prefecture.
