JAUE2017-069: Study on the Effect of Expandmetal as Shading Device in Illuminance and Solar Radiation

In recent years, expanded metal has been used as a facade of buildings from the design point of view because it
can produce various expressions by according to materials and mesh scale and it has a lot of merit in terms of cost.
Also, since it is not only used as a design of the appearance but also it is used as transparent material, it is one of
the factors that affect the indoor environment.
Therefore, in this research, we created a three-dimensional shape virtual model of expanded metal by using
algorithm, changed its form by using parameters. Then, searched for a fittest shape that can obtain the optimum
effect on the indoor environment, and aimed at energy conservation.
Based on the JIS standard, I made nine types of expanded metal model with different mesh scale, plate thickness,
and strand dimensions and simulated assuming that it was installed on the window of the south side of the building
model which is office used during the day.
We conducted simulation of daylight illuminance and simulation of solar radiation amount on the south window
surface.
