Recent years, the study of combining school facilities with other public facilities is progressing by declining
birthrate and an aging population in Japan. On the other hand, according to changes in form and enhancement of
equipment by rebuilding, energy consumption of school facilities tends to increase. Also, in terms of disaster
prevention, many public school facilities are designated as shelter of a disaster but maintenance of emergency
energy supply facilities are inadequate.
In this study, energy consumption survey on facilities where junior high school and special elderly nursing
home are combined was investigated and simulation for introduction of CHP (Combined Heat and Power) was
conducted for strengthening disaster prevention function.
As a result of trial calculation, in the case of introducing CHP that can cover the power required as evacuation
shelter during power failure, energy consumption was reduced by 12.2% at maximum by the usual operation of
CHP. Further, the cost recovery years were also realizable
