Abstract

Now, expansion of wood use at buildings are recommended, and using wood at building skins such as curtain wall will increase in near future. In this paper, our laboratory carried out basic investigation about multi-layered glass curtain wall unit using wooden frame under development. This unit is composed of structured which two glasses holding wooden frame in between, considering durability and fire resistance. The experiment and survey with specimens of this glass curtain wall unit were carried out. And with the evaluation about thermal insulation performance in comparison with conventional multi-layered glass using aluminum frame, problems to be solved at using exterior were extracted. As a result, it was clear that multi-layered glass used wooden frame has good thermal insulation performance compared with aluminum's one, and heat capacity of the wood has an advantage for its performance.
